Sex Sense

Sex Sense is a free, pro-choice, sex-positive, and confidential service. Their team of registered nurses, counsellors, and sex educators offer information and resources on sex, sexuality and sexual health, for people living in British Columbia and the Yukon. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

National Abortion Federation Canada

NAF  operates the largest national, toll-free, multi-lingual hotline for abortion referrals and financial assistance in the U.S. and Canada. They provide callers with accurate information, confidential consultation, options counselling, and referrals to providers of quality abortion care. They also provide case management services for women with special needs, and limited financial assistance to help subsidize care and travel-related expenses. The hotline is free, completely anonymous, and offers services to everyone, regardless of their individual situation. For unbiased information about abortion and about other resources, including financial assistance, call toll-free 1-800-772-9100 Weekdays: 7:00 A.M.-11:00 P.M. Eastern time Saturdays and Sundays: 9:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M. For referrals to quality abortion providers call 1-877-257-0012 (no funding assistance provided on this line). Options for Sexual Health has three key programs that offer sexual and reproductive health services, care, and information. They operate health clinics throughout BC and run a sexual/reproductive information health line, called Sex Sense.

Bedsider is a wonderful resource that provides straightforward information about birth control methods and has answers to the most common birth control questions.
This service provides information, resources and referral for all abortion services, including counselling, available to B.C. residents.

Medical Students for Choice

MSFC has more than 220 chapters around the world. MSFC members organize to change institutional policies and broaden opportunities for all their fellow students to receive family planning education. Medical Students for Choice supports any medical student or physician in training seeking abortion and family planning education.

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada

The Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC) is a nation-wide political pro-choice group devoted to ensuring abortion rights and access. They maintain a list of abortion services in Canada which can be accessed here.

myPostCare

myPostCare is a comprehensive digital platform that supports individuals after an abortion. It was co-created in BC with women’s health specialists and individuals who experienced a surgical abortion. myPostCare is managed by a Canadian non-profit, Vitala Global Foundation. We are dedicated to addressing gaps in sexual and reproductive health access by co-creating digital solutions with women, girls, and their communities.   Post Surgical Abortion: myPostCare is now available to support individuals post-surgical abortion. Embrace Clinic

Free and confidential medical care for survivors of violence who are 12 years of age and older, of any gender. As part of the Fraser Health Forensic Nursing Service, the Embrace Clinic provides short-term medical care to survivors of recent violence. The Embrace Clinic provides confidential medical care with your safety and privacy in mind. The Embrace Clinic provides:
  • Follow-up medical care to anyone seen by the Forensic Nursing Service or other emergency assault teams
  • Health care to people who have experienced violence within seven days that have not seen a health care provider and do not need emergency medical care
  • Medical follow-up for people who have experienced violence in the past three months
  • Care, assessment and follow-up of injuries
  • Screening for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, infectious diseases (HIV, Hep C (HCV)), and other conditions
  • Referrals to specialists when necessary or appropriate
Self-referrals are welcome. For self-referrals, call 1-855-775-7223 to talk with a nurse practitioner or to book a confidential appointment. Appointments can also be arranged by emailing [email protected].
